Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 22-271 with Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., for mowing, tree trimming, and rodent control services at multiple regional parks, to increase the total contract amount by $474,593, from $2,265,069 to $2,739,662.04, exercising the second of two options to extend the term of the contract by one year, for a total contract period of June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2027.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of Amendment No. 2 (Amendment) to Contract No. 22-271 (Contract) will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Regional Parks Department (Department) 2025-26 budget and will be included in the 2026-27 recommended budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On April 12, 2022 (Item No. 42), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved the competitive procured Contract with Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., for mowing, tree trimming and rodent control services for Glen Helen Regional Park, Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, Mojave Narrows Regional Park, Prado Regional Park, and Yucaipa Regional Park. The term of the contract was effective from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2025, and provided the option to extend for two additional one-year periods.
On May 6, 2025 (Item No. 38), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 with Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., to increase the total contract amount by $590,868.01 from $1,674, 201.03 to $2,265,069.04, and extend the contract period from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2026.
The recommended Amendment will increase the contract amount by $474,593, from $2,265,069.04 to a total contract amount of $2,739,662.04, and extend the term for an additional one-year period from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027. This Amendment will also reduce the number of parks include in lawn care maintenance, eliminating Cucamonga-Guasti and Mojave Narrows Regional Park, and retaining services at Glen Helen Regional Park, Prado Regional Park, and Yucaipa Regional Park.
This Amendment aligns with the County and Chief Executive Officer goal and objective of operating in a fiscally-responsible and business-like manner by contracting out these services to allow Department staff to focus on parks maintenance, improving customer service, and ensuring the highest quality in experience for parks patrons.
