BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Registrar of Votes (ROV) owns and maintains several servers and switches to support its election technology infrastructure. The two Dell PowerEdge R630 servers and four Dell Networking X1000 Series switches have reached the end of their life cycles and are no longer supported by the vendor. ROV recommends the old servers and switches be disposed of through coordination with the Purchasing Department as the equipment is proprietary to the vendor. The equipment will be made void of any software or firmware before being sent to surplus.

County Policy No. 12-18 (Policy) gives the Board of Supervisors the authority to declare property with an estimated value of $10,000 or more surplus.  The Policy also requires that property identified as surplus and unusable by a County department shall be sold, reissued, consigned, recycled, or disposed of by the Purchasing Agent, in accordance with County Code section 14.0101 et seq., Government Code sections 25503-25507 and the Community Based Organization Program as applicable.
