Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $971,200 will be funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2025-26 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Amendment with W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) will allow ARMC to maintain additional Gore stents (devices) and products, which were inadvertently omitted from the previous amendment, in ARMC’s inventory, ensuring sufficient devices are available when needed. These devices are used in conjunction with other Gore products purchased by ARMC to open narrowed or blocked arteries and to restore blood flow to peripheral arteries. Use of the devices and products in interventional procedures improves clinicians’ ability to treat patients with complex medical problems.
On August 28, 2023, as the result of a non-competitive procurement, the Purchasing Department approved Contract No. 4400019000 with Gore to enable the purchase of VBX Stent Graft devices on a consignment basis in the amount not to exceed $296,983 for the term of August 28, 2023 through August 27, 2025.
On July 9, 2024 (Item No. 6), the Board of Supervisors (Board) approved Amendment No. 1 to Contract No. 24-629 (4400019000) with Gore, increasing the contract amount by $1,000,000, from $296,983 to the not-to-exceed total contract amount of $1,296,983, and extending the term by two years, for a total term of August 28, 2023 through August 27, 2027.
On October 21, 2025 (Item No. 9), the Board approved Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 24-629 with Gore for the consignment of medical devices, to update the product listing with new product model numbers, with no changes to the contract amount of $1,296,983, or term of August 28, 2023 through August 27, 2027.
ARMC recommends approval of the amendment to provide for the health and safety of ARMC patients by ensuring additional products are available when needed for interventional procedures and to improve treatment outcomes for patients.
