Recommendation
1. Approve Capital Improvement Program Project No. 22-141 for Agriculture/Weights & Measures Installation of Parking Cover (WBSE 10.10.1305) in the amount of $268,733 located at 777 E. Rialto Ave. in San Bernardino.
2. Authorize the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector to post the necessary adjustments, as indicated in the Financial Impact Section (Four votes required).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures (AWM) will fund the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project budget for the installation of a parking cover in the amount of $268,733 from salary savings resulting from staffing vacancies. This item authorizes the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector to post adjustments to AWM’s 2021-22 budget:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The AWM parking area for the department’s work trucks is in need of the installation of a parking cover. The work trucks have sensitive calibration units installed on them that are used to perform accuracy inspections of gasoline and diesel dispensers at service stations. The calibration units are being damaged by sun exposure. The calibration units will have a longer service time and fewer repairs needed when they are parked under the parking cover.
The Project and Facilities Management Department will be overseeing the project and installation of the metal parking cover. The parking cover will be a free-standing metal structure that is being installed adjacent to an existing AWM building at 777 E. Rialto Ave. located in San Bernardino. The installation of the metal parking cover will include the installation of the proper foundation and metal bollards. Additionally, light fixtures will also be installed inside the metal parking cover as a part of the project. The Project and Facilities Management Department expects installation of the parking cover will be completed within 412 days from initiation of the project.
