RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Accept donation of one 2024 Polaris RZR Pro-R, side-by-side off-highway vehicle (Vehicle Identification No. 3NSRMC2K7RG336800), with a total value of $44,453, from the City of Twentynine Palms.
2. Accept donation of one 2024 Polaris RZR Pro-R, side-by-side off-highway vehicle (Vehicle Identification No. 3NSRMC2K9RG060569), with a total value of $44,864, from the Town of Yucca Valley.
3. Authorize the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator, Undersheriff, or Assistant Sheriff to execute all necessary documentation to transfer title of the donated vehicles referenced in Recommendation Nos. 1 and 2, subject to review by County Counsel.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The 2024 Polaris RZR Pro-R off-highway vehicles (OHVs) were purchased by the City of Twentynine Palms (Twentynine Palms) for the total amount of $44,453, and by the Town of Yucca Valley (Yucca Valley) in the total amount of $44,864. Both were acquired with their respective Local Law Enforcement Supplemental Account (LLESA) funds. All ongoing costs associated with the donated vehicles, including fuel, insurance, and maintenance will be funded through the law enforcement services contracts with Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator’s (Department) 2024-25 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Department provides contracted law enforcement services to both Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley. In support of these services, the Department is requesting approval to accept the donation of the two OHVs for use by Department personnel to better support the ongoing concerns of the donating communities. One OHV will be returned to Twentynine Palms and the other to Yucca Valley at the end of their useful life to be disposed of in compliance with the instructions in the donation letter, attached to this item for reference.
County Policy Standard Practice 06-01SP requires departments to obtain Board of Supervisors approval of any donation valued over $10,000.
