RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Approve Employment Contract with Kaylan Hernandez for the provision of services as a Criminalist I for the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator, effective November 21, 2020 through December 31, 2021, with the option to extend the term for two additional one-year periods, for an estimated annual cost of $106,826 (Salary - $65,187; Benefits - $41,639).
2. Authorize the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator to execute amendments to the contract to extend the contract term for a maximum of two successive one-year periods on behalf of the County, subject to review by County Counsel.
3. Direct the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator transmit all documents in relation to contract amendments to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors within 30 days of execution.

Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The estimated annual cost for this Employment Contract is $106,826 (Salary - $65,187; Benefits - $41,639). This position is assigned to the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator (Department), Scientific Investigations Division, Criminal Laboratory and will be funded by the 2019 DNA Backlog Reduction Program grant in the amount of $384,923 (Award No. 2019-DN-BX-0001) for the period of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2021.
