RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 22-487 with Gamboa Counseling for Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Services, updating Attachment C, the Maximum Fee Schedule, and extending the term by three months, for the total contract period of July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2026, with no change to the current aggregate amount not to exceed $13,546,775.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as Amendment No. 2 is non-financial in nature. The total aggregate cost will not exceed $13,546,775 for the period of July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2026. The funding for Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Services (CAPTS) contracted services is funded by approximately 55% ($7,450,726) Federal, 45% ($6,096,049) local share. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Human Services Administrative Claim 2026-27 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Each year, San Bernardino County investigates over 31,000 allegations of abuse and neglect of children. Children and Family Services (CFS) operates under the Child Welfare Services system and its duty is to provide care and protection for children placed under its supervision pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code sections 16540, et seq.
