Body
COUNTY AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Operate in a Fiscally-Responsible and Business-Like Manner.
Provide for the Safety, Health and Social Service Needs of County Residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The cost of $550,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurance, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2025-26 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Amendment will allow ARMC to continue to provide access to specialized neuromonitoring in the operating rooms at ARMC for more efficient patient care and safety during specific procedures that require this type of monitoring. Neuromonitoring is a standard medical practice that assesses the function of a patient’s nervous system during surgery. As a Level I Trauma center, there has been an increase in procedures. The increase in funding will allow ARMC to meet the increase in patient procedures.
The requested amendment is necessary to align contract authority with current service utilization following ARMC's transition to a Level I Trauma Center in mid-2022. As the hospital continues to expand its capacity to provide advanced, high-acuity care, demand for specialized clinical support services has increased accordingly. This growth reflects ARMC's evolving role as a regional destination for complex cases and the corresponding need to ensure sufficient contract authority to support ongoing patient care operations.
On April 10, 2025, as the result of the competitively bid solicitation No. ARMC125-ARMC-5660, Purchasing executed Contract 4400027999 for a not-to-exceed amount of $200,000 annually and a total contract amount of $950,000 for July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030.
ARMC recommends approval of the Amendment, to provide for the safety, health and social needs of the County residents by continuous tracking of patient’s nervous system function during complex surgeries and to improve patient outcomes and quality of life for County residents.
