Recommendation
Adopt Resolution appointing candidates in lieu of election to the Baker Community Services District Board of Directors for the August 26, 2025 Consolidated Mail Ballot Election, where the number of persons filing a Declaration of Candidacy was less than or equal to the number of offices to be filled.

Approval of these actions will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the adoption of Resolutions for Appointments in Lieu of Election is non-financial in nature.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Adoption of this Resolution will appoint three candidates, in lieu of election, to fill certain offices that were up for election in the Baker Community Services District's Mail Ballot Election scheduled for August 26, 2025.The candidate filing window was open from May 5 through June 4, 2025.

California Elections Code section 10515 requires that when the number of candidates who file for an office is less than or equal to the number of offices to be filled, the Board of Supervisors (Board) shall appoint those candidates to the office. All persons appointed in lieu of election by the Board shall serve a four-year term beginning on December 5, 2025 to December 7, 2029.

The number of persons who filed a declaration of candidacy for three Members of the Baker Community Services District Board of Directors was equal to the number of offices up for election.
