Approve Revenue Contract with San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District for the provision of vector control services in the amount of $266,370 for the five-year period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2029.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The Department of Public Health (DPH) will receive revenue from the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District in the amount of $266,370 for the five-year period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2029. Sufficient appropriation and revenue will be included in DPH's 2024-25 recommended budget and in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The DPH Mosquito and Vector Control Program provides a wide range of control and abatement services throughout the county, in effort to prevent and minimize public exposure to disease from animals and insects capable of spreading disease to humans. This includes diseases such as West Nile Virus, Encephalitis, Dengue, Malaria, and Zika. DPH has provided vector control services for the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District since 2019.

Under the terms of the contract, DPH will respond to routine service requests, inspect potential vector and breeding places, and take action to mitigate risk to the public which includes surveying, trapping, identifying, and testing vectors that have the potential to transmit disease.
