RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Acting as the governing body of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, adopt ordinance designating the Fire Hazard Severity Zones in the Local Responsibility Areas of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, State of California in accordance with Government Code Sections 51178, 51179, and 51177(e), which was introduced on May 20, 2025, Item No. 109.

Approval of the recommended actions will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as this adoption to the proposed ordinance is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On May 20, 2025 (Item No. 109), the ordinance designating the Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ) in the Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCFPD) was introduced and scheduled for final adoption on June 10, 2025. The recommendation before the Board of Directors today will adopt the ordinance on the Consent Calendar.
The proposed ordinance will designate the FHSZ classifications - moderate, high, and very high zones within SBCFPD's jurisdiction. The FHSZ classifications provide a more precise assessment of the wildfire risks using modern climate data and advanced fire modeling. This information is impor...
