RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve non-financial Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, for the preparation of a joint environmental document for the Castle Mountain Mine expansion project, effective January 14, 2025, and continuing until a final determination of the project entitlements, project withdraw, or upon termination by either party, whichever date occurs first.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
the Applicant submitted an application with the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), for an amendment to the Castle Mountain Mine (CMM) Plan of Operation to expand its open-pit gold mining operation (CMM Phase 2 Expansion) on 1,360 acres of federal managed lands. BLM regulates federal lands pursuant to the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 and evaluates land use proposal pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1959 (NEPA).
