FINANCIAL IMPACT

The report on drone technology is non-financial in nature and will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

As part of Innovate 2020, drone technology was identified as an emerging tool to perform job functions in innovative ways.  Drone technology continues to evolve rapidly and these tools can enhance and simplify tasks for employees.  The County Administrative Office will provide a report regarding Drone technology concepts and initiatives, including the establishment of a countywide drone program, and explore emerging uses of drones and drone technology and how they may benefit the County under a coordinated effort.  Staff will solicit guidance and feedback from the Board of Supervisors on the concepts discussed and the potential use of drone technology and establishment of a drone program.
