RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Consider proposed ordinance repealing Title 3, Division 3, Chapter 6, Article 4 of the San Bernardino County Code, relating to certification of backflow prevention device testers.
2. Make alterations, if necessary, to proposed ordinance.
3. Approve introduction of proposed ordinance.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
San Bernardino County requires domestic water systems within its jurisdiction to be protected from contamination or pollution resulting from inadequate or malfunctioning backflow prevention devices. In addition, State-regulated water purveyors are required to monitor and maintain backflow prevention devices in accordance with California Code of Regulations, Title 17.
On August 24, 1992 (Item No. 54), the Board of Supervisors adopted Title 3, Division 3, Chapter 6, Article 4 of the San Bernardino County Code to establish a local certification program for backflow prevention assembly testers (BPATs).
