Recommendation
Authorize the San Bernardino County Library to accept a gift from the Hesperia Friends of the Library Group, in the amount of $46,614.67, to be used to support the Summer Reading program for the Hesperia Branch Library through Fiscal Year 2028-29.

Approval of this item will not require the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost).
Budget adjustments to Library's 2024-25 budget are not requested at this time but may be included in a future budget report presented to the Board of Supervisors (Board) for approval.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Acceptance of the $46,614.67 gift from the Hesperia Friends of the Library Group will allow the County Library to utilize funds to purchase physical library materials (such as books), supplies for adult and youth library programs (such as craft/art materials or STEAM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics program supplies), circulation incentives to promote reading, and performers to support the Summer Reading Program at the Hesperia Branch Library through Fiscal Year 2028-29. These materials will result in an enhancement of the customer experience at the Hesperia Branch Library. County Policy 06-01 and Standard Practice 06-01SP require Board approval of gifts and donations having a value greater than $10,000.
