RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Find that the Inaugural Virtual Pet Adopt-A-Thon, Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Event is an event that assists in meeting the health and social service needs of the citizens of the County and supports the Countywide Vision.
2. Authorize the use of limited County resources to support and coordinate the Inaugural Virtual Pet Adopt-A-Thon Pet Adoption Event, for the period of June 23, 2021 through June 26, 2021.
3. Authorize the Director of the Department of Public Health to adjust the dates for rescheduling of the Inaugural Virtual Pet Adopt-A-Thon Pet Adoption Event, if necessary.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Inaugural Virtual Homeward Bound Pet Adopt-A-Thon Event (Event) will have minimal financial impact on participating departments. The estimated cost in County resources to support and coordinate the Event is $10,000. Adequate appropriation and revenue to hold the Event has been included in the Department of Public Health's (DPH) 2020-21 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The DPH Animal Care and Control (ACC) Division plans to hold the Virtual Pet Adopt-A-Thon, Homeward Bound Adoption Event on June 26, 2021, in collaboration with the Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF) and five other animal shelter facilities located in San Bernardino County.
