RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Terminate Employment Contract No. 26-901 with Ashley Cordova as a Supervisors Executive Aide I, effective October 30, 2026 (Four votes required).
2. Approve Employment Contract with Ashley Cordova, to provide support services to the Third District Supervisor, as a Field Representative I, effective October 31, 2026, for an estimated cost of $125,493 (Salary - $70,949, Benefits - $54,544).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the recommendations will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the Third District 2026-27 budget to fund the costs related to this employment contract and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter.
On October 7, 2025 (Item No. 4), the Board approved Employment Contract No. 25-804 (Contract) with Ashley Cordova, to provide support services for the Third District Supervisor and First District Supervisor as a Supervisors Executive Aide I for the period of October 4, 2025 to October 2, 2026.
On March 24, 2026 (Item No. 10), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to the Contract to add provisions governing when a new employment contract or amendment is required, amending the term of the contract, and adding Special Assignment Compensation, with no other changes to the Contract.
On May 19, 2026 (Item No. 7), the Board approved Amendment No. 2 to the Contract to add the Auto Allowance benefit to be fully funded by the Third District, pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the San Bernardino County Exempt Group Working Conditions Ordinance, effective May 16, 2026, with no other changes to the Contract.
On October 6, 2026 (Item No. 7), the Board approved Employment Contract No. 26-901 to continue to engage Ms. Cordova to provide support services for the Third District Supervisor and First District Supervisor as a Supervisors Executive Aide I for a contract term of October 3, 2026 through January 8, 2027.
Recommendation No. 1 will terminate the existing Employment Contract No. 26-901 effective October 30, 2026, which requires four votes per Section 210 of the County Charter and the termination provisions within this contract.
Recommendation No. 2 will initiate a new employment contract to engage Ms. Cordova as a Field Representative I for the Third District Supervisor, effective October 31, 2026, as this is the first day of the closest pay period to the Board meeting.
Either party may terminate the contract at any time without cause with a 14-day prior written notice to the other party. The Contract may be terminated for just cause immediately by the County.
