RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve non-financial Memorandum of Understanding with Colton Joint Unified School District, for the exchange of information regarding mutual customers, to promote the participation of eligible student households in the CalFresh Program to increase the availability of healthy, nutritious foods for students and their families, for the period of November 18, 2025 through November 30, 2028.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Effective January 1, 2012, Assembly Bill (AB) 402 (Chapter 504, Statutes of 2011), added Section 18901.55 to the California Welfare and Institutions Code, as well as new procedures in the California Education Code, which allows Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and the local agency that determines CalFresh program eligibility, to voluntarily enter into an agreement to share information contained on the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) application, for the purpose of qualifying interested households for CalFresh benefits.
AB 402 is intended to increase the participation of free and reduced priced meals for eligible student households in the CalFresh program. Many students are eligible for the CalFresh program but are not currently receiving benefits. AB 402 will allow LEAs to share NSLP mea...
