Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 3 to Contract No. 20-881 with California Department of Public Health for the provision of Coronavirus rapid testing laboratory equipment and supplies, at no cost, extending the term of the contract by seven months, for a total term of September 11, 2020 through October 31, 2022.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The amendment and underlying agreement with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is non-financial in nature.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of this amendment to Contract No. 20-881 will allow Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) to continue using PerkinElmer instruments to test patients for Coronavirus (COVID-19) who are pending hospital admission for surgery or other procedures at no cost to the County. CDPH has contracted with PerkinElmer to provide laboratory equipment and supplies for laboratory testing of COVID-19. ARMC is currently performing about 400 tests per week. The advantage to performing these tests in the ARMC Lab is shorter testing turnaround time for pre-operative patients and cost savings from not having to use external labs.
