RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 2 to Contract No. 23-590 with the Town of Apple Valley, for the provision of animal shelter services in the unincorporated areas of the high desert region, increasing the amount by $537,209, from $2,284,540 to $2,821,749, and extending the contract for an additional six months or until the close of escrow, whichever comes first, for a total contract period of July 1, 2023 through December 31, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The $537,209 cost of Amendment No. 2 (Amendment) to Contract No. 23-590 (Contract) will not exceed a total contract amount of $2,821,749. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Department of Public Health's (DPH) recommended 2025-26 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
DPH will continue to contract with the Town of Apple Valley (Apple Valley) to provide animal shelter services for residents in the unincorporated areas of the high desert region of the county, for a total contract period of July 1, 2023 through December 31, 2025. Shelter services covered by the Contract include the care and housing of stray, abandoned, or surrendered animals.
