RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 3 to Revenue Agreement No. 10-1111, effective January 1, 2026, with the City of Claremont, for the sale of landfill airspace for the disposal of Qualifying Solid Waste into the Mid-Valley Sanitary Landfill, increasing the disposal rate, from $39.59 to $44.07 per ton, increasing the agreement amount by $5,068,050, from $11,348,000 to a total amount of $16,416,050, and exercising the last option to extend the term by five years, for a total contract term of December 14, 2010 to December 31, 2030.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost), as the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) is financed by fee revenue. SWMD establishes fees charged to the public and other agencies for utilization of the County's Waste Disposal System. The City of Claremont (City) has disposed of approximately 23,000 tons of solid waste annually over the past four years. The City currently pays a disposal rate of $39.59 per ton, which will be increased to $44.07 per ton effective January 1, 2026. This rate adjustment will align the City's rate with the County's rate of $42.07 for in-County cities that have Waste Disposal Agreements (WDAs), plus an additional $2 and eliminates future annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
