RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Declare the Cisco Catalyst WS-C4 as surplus and no longer meets the needs of the Registrar of Voters.
2. Authorize the sale of the Cisco Catalyst WS-C4 identified in Recommendation No. 1, to be coordinated through the Purchasing Department, Surplus Property Division.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The Purchasing Agent will deposit the proceeds from the sale of the Cisco Catalyst WS-C4 (Switch) into the County's General Fund.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The network Switch was purchased on June 30, 2016 for $64,073 and has an estimated value of over $10,000. It was used to connect multiple devices within the network and facilitate the secure and efficient flow of data. The Switch has reached the end of its life cycle and is no longer supported by the vendor. The Registrar of Voters (ROV) recommends the Switch be declared surplus property and it be sold at auction through coordination with the Purchasing Department. The Switch will be made void of any software or firmware before being sent to surplus.
County Policy No. 12-18 (Policy) gives the Board of Supervisors the authority to declare property with an estimated value of $10,000 or more surplus. The Policy also requires that property identified as surplus and unusable by a County department shall be sold, reissued, consigned, recycled, or disposed of by the Purchasing Agent in accordance with County Code section 14.0101 et seq., Government Code sections 25503-25507 and the Community Based Organizat...
