RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Terminate Employment Contract No. 23-431 with Desiree Ramirez as an Intern Staff Assistant I, effective June 26, 2026 (Four votes required).
2. Approve Employment Contract with Desiree Ramirez to provide support services to the Fifth District Supervisor, as a Field Representative I, effective June 27, 2026, for an estimated annual cost of $99,117 (Salary - $60,362, Benefits - $38,755).
3. Approve Employment Contract with Yetlalezi Camacho to provide support services to the Fifth District Supervisor, as a Field Representative I, effective June 27, 2026, for an estimated annual cost of $99,117 (Salary - $60,362, Benefits - $38,755).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the recommendations will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the Fifth District’s 2025-26 budget to fund the costs related to the employment contracts and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter.
On May 23, 2023 (Item No. 7), the Board approved Employment Contract No. 23-431 (CON 23-431) to engage Desiree Ramirez to provide support services as an Intern Staff Assistant I for the Fifth District.
On March 24, 2026 (Item No. 11), the Board approved Amendment No. 1 to CON 23-431, to add provisions governing when a new employment contract or amendment is required, amending the term of the contract, and adding Special Assignment Compensation, with no other changes to CON 23-431.
Recommendation No. 1 will terminate the existing CON 23-431, effective June 26, 2026, which requires four votes per Section 210 of the County Charter and the termination provisions within this contract.
Recommendation No. 2 will initiate a new employment contract to engage Ms. Ramirez to provide support services as a Field Representative I for the Fifth District, effective June 27, 2026.
Recommendation No. 3 will initiate a new employment contract to engage Yetlalezi Camacho to provide support services as a Field Representative I for the Fifth District, effective June 27, 2026.
Either party may terminate their respective contract at any time without cause with a 14-day prior written notice to the other party. The contracts may be terminated for just cause immediately by the County.
