Recommendation
Authorize the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to execute a Request for Responsibility Letter for registration of a second-level domain name with the .Gov Program, part of the United States General Services Administration, which would delegate authority to San Bernardino County over SBCountyARC.gov or ARCSBCounty.gov.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as this letter is non-financial in nature. There is no cost associated with the registration of a second-level domain name with the .Gov Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In an effort to improve services, increase resiliency, facilitate business continuity, and reduce costs, the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Department (ARC) is migrating its infrastructure to the Cloud (i.e., Azure, Office365) and continuing with development of a new Assessor Information Management System (AIMS). These two efforts have positioned ARC to consider and plan for the domain name (i.e., .gov, .org, .com, etc.) that will be used by ARC moving forward. Obtaining either the SBCountyARC.gov or ARCSBCounty.gov domain will provide for comprehensive administration over ARC's domain, which is required for the progression of ARC's Cloud adoption strategy.
The .Gov Program is part of the United States General Services Administration. A .gov domain is used for online services like websites or e-mail, and it conveys a greater sense of trust and recognition than its counterparts like .com, .org, or .us. Government agencies ...
