Approve non-financial Affiliation Agreement with Walden University for clinical training and research for its nursing students for a five-year period from the date of execution.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as this Affiliation Agreement (Agreement) with Walden University (Walden) is non-financial in nature.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
A key component of Arrowhead Regional Medical Center's (ARMC) mission is to provide education to students in a variety of disciplines. ARMC has a number of agreements with universities and colleges, junior colleges, and technical and trade schools to provide on-site clinical training for students. This clinical training is necessary for students to obtain their degrees, licenses, and/or certifications.

The Agreement with Walden will enable approximately 15 nursing students to obtain in-person clinical training at ARMC. The volume and patient mix at ARMC will provide a comprehensive educational opportunity to the students from Walden. The clinical training will ensure its nursing students receive specialty clinical experience, and gain vital skills needed in developing a competent workforce.
