Approve donation of $14,000 from the Friends of Regional Parks of San Bernardino County to support fishing workshops in the Fourth and Fifth Districts.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The donation from Friends of Regional Parks of San Bernardino County (FRPSBC) will allow the Regional Parks Department (Department) to support ongoing efforts in fishing workshops hosted at Cucamonga-Guasti, Glen Helen, and Prado Regional Parks. The donation of $14,000 will be used for expenses in support of fishing workshops in the Fourth and Fifth Districts. Approval of any necessary budget adjustments to Regional Parks (Parks) 2024-25 budget is not requested at this time but will be presented to the Board of Supervisors (Board) at a later date.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Since 2009, youth fishing events have taken place at local Regional Parks. These events have served to educate local youth in the practice of lake safety and fishing techniques. These programs provide youth with a fishing pole, bait, and equipment while teaching them the basic skills needed to fish. The Department has seen increased participation year after year at these events. Additional Discretionary General Funding from the Department's budget have been used each year to supplement the increased costs.
