Recommendation
Rescind approval by the Board of Supervisors on April 21, 2020 (Item No. 40) of Amendment No. 3 to Agreement No. 18-403 with the California Department of Food and Agriculture related to the disposal of carcasses of diseased birds and waste materials associated with the virulent Newcastle Disease at the Mid-Valley and Victorville Sanitary Landfills, to extend the term of the agreement one year from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Rescinding the Agreement will reduce revenue to the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD), as the diseased birds will no longer be disposed of at the County's Solid Waste Disposal System. The loss of revenue will be minimal. The amount received from Agreement No. 18-403 was $120,221 for the period of June 2018 through June 2020.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This amendment will rescind the agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) related to the disposal of carcasses of diseased birds and waste materials associated with the virulent Newcastle Disease (vND) at the County's Mid-Valley and Victorville Sanitary Landfills.
