FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as it is non-financial in nature.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The ordinance repealing Title 3, Division 3, Chapter 6, Article 4 of the San Bernardino County Code relating to the certification of backflow prevention device testers was introduced on May 5, 2026, Item No. 81. The recommendation before the Board of Supervisors today will adopt the ordinance on the Consent Calendar.

 

The ordinance aligns County Code with current State certification standards for backflow prevention assembly device testers, preventing duplicative or unnecessary requirements to operate within the county while maintaining protection of public health. The ordinance does not affect the enforcement of applicable State cross-connection control requirements.
