RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1 to Employment Contract No. 22-802 with Samuel Shoup to continue to provide support services to the First District Supervisor as a Field Representative II, changing the salary range, and increasing the auto and cell phone allowance pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the San Bernardino County Exempt Group Working Conditions Ordinance, effective July 15, 2023, for an estimated annual cost of $124,630 (Salary - $73,611, Benefits - $51,019).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this employment contract will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the First District's 2023-24 budget to fund the costs related to this employment contract and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter.

On December 8, 2020 (Item No. 6), the Board approved Employment Contract No. 20-1190 to engage Samuel Shoup to provide support services as a Field Representative I for the First District Supervisor. On September 13, 2022 (Item No. 4), the Board terminated Employment Contract No. 20-1190 and approved new Employment Contract No. 22-802 to engage Mr. Shoup as a Field Representative II.
