Recommendation
Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue purchase orders to Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. dba CuraScript SD for 340B specialty pharmacy medications in an amount not to exceed $3,290,000, for the period of July 20, 2023 through July 19, 2028.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost), as the cost $3,290,000 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2024-25 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The 340B Drug Pricing Program (340B Program) was created by Congress in 1992 to help hospitals and other entities provide care to low-income patients and communities by federally mandating pharmaceutical manufacturers to sell certain outpatient drugs at a discount to qualified participating health organizations. Since the pricing is set at the same rate for all manufacturers through the 340 Drug Pricing Program, it does not require a competitive procurement.
