RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 2, effective August 16, 2020, to Contract No. 18-96 with Life Skills Awareness to provide continued recidivism reduction services, exercising the first option to extend the contract an additional year, for the total contract period of February 14, 2018 through August 15, 2021, with no change to the total contract amount of $518,907.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). These recidivism services are 100% funded by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for the Proposition 47 Grant Program and do not require a match. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Department of Public Health's (DPH) 2020-21 budget and will be included in the 2021-22 recommended budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The purpose of the Proposition 47 Grant Program is to support individuals with a history of incarceration to reconnect with their family members, contribute to their communities, and decrease the possibility of reoffending. This grant enables DPH to support these individuals through the provision of mental health services, substance abuse disorder treatment, and other support programs.
