Surplus and Donate Calico Cowboy Signs to Daggett Historical Museum

RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Declare the following fixed assets as surplus and no longer necessary to the needs of San Bernardino County: two Calico Cowboy signs located at Calico Regional Park, 36600 Ghost Town Road, Yermo, with an estimated value of less than $6,000.
2. Find it is in the public interest to donate the Calico Cowboy signs to the Daggett Historical Museum as historical items for the museum.
3. Authorize the Director of the Regional Parks Department to execute all necessary documentation to transfer ownership of the Calico Cowboy signs to the Daggett Historical Museum, on behalf of the County, subject to County Counsel Review.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item does not require the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The surplus and donation of the Calico Cowboy signs will avoid the costs of removal, transport, and disposal of the signs that are no longer viable for use at Calico Regional Park.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Daggett Historical Museum (Museum) contacted the Regional Parks Department (Regional Parks) after seeing that two new signs were installed for the Calico Regional Park to see if Regional Parks would donate the former signs to the Museum. As part of the donation, the Museum has agreed to remove, transport, and maintain the signs at the Museum as a historical symbol of Calico Ghost Town. No other County depart...
