RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Terminate Revenue Contract No. 17-94 and approve new Revenue Contract with OneLegacy to perform tissue and organ procurement services, with the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator receiving annual compensation of not less than $60,000 effective June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2027.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). This contract will result in revenue of at least $60,000 per year for the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator (Department) and will reimburse all costs associated with OneLegacy's use of the Coroner's facility for tissue and organ procurement services, including any overtime, call-back and on-call costs incurred by Department staff (including any administrative overhead) for the provision of services by OneLegacy. The $60,000 amount is based on actual revenue received by the Department in 2020-21 and so far in 2021-22.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Organ and tissue procurement agencies have been established to promote and facilitate donation of organs and tissues in a manner beneficial to donor's families, donor recipients, healthcare providers and the public. The Coroner's Office has had an association with multiple organ and tissue procurement agencies for the past 38 years.
