Recommendation
Approve the Agreement with Avita Medical Americas, LLC. for the purchase of RECELL Autologous Cell Harvesting Devices in an amount not to exceed $330,000 for the one year period of February 11, 2020 to February 10, 2021, with the option to renew for four additional one-year periods.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the Agreement with Avita Medical America, LLC (Avita) will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the $330,000 for RECELL(r) Autologous Cell Harvesting Devices is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue are included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2019-20 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of the Agreement with Avita will allow ARMC to provide treatment for acute thermal burn injuries using RECELL Autologous Cell Harvesting Devices. RECELL has significant cost savings in comparison to the standard of care, split-thickness skin grafts (STSG). STSG requires harvesting of cells from areas of the body that have not been burned (donor sites), and the procedure has an increased risk for infection and disease.
