RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
1. Consider proposed ordinance amending the San Bernardino County Code relating to emergency services organization.
2. Make alterations, if necessary, to proposed ordinance.
3. Approve introduction of proposed ordinance.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost), as these updates to the County Code (Code) are non-financial in nature.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The proposed ordinance will update the Code to ensure proper management of the County in the event of an emergency. The revisions to the Code include, an updated definition of emergency to better align with Government Code section 8558, update the position that will serve as the Director of Emergency Services in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer, update the titles and members of the Disaster Council, update who will serve as the Disaster Council Chairperson in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer, and increase the potential fine from $500 to $1,000 for violations, including but not limited to, interfering when an individual who is enforcing a l...
