BACKGROUND INFORMATION
On May 24, 2022 (Item No. 46), the Board of Supervisors approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the San Bernardino County Probation Officers Association (SBCPOA), representing employees in the Probation Unit, for the period of August 1, 2022, through July 31, 2027. Due to a need to clarify certain language in the MOU, San Bernardino County engaged in the meet and confer process with SBCPOA which resulted in the proposed Agreement. The Agreement provides clarifying language regarding eligibility for the Needles Premium Subsidy, a medical premium subsidy paid to unit employees working in remote areas, that aligns with current practice. The language would update language identifying the amount of the subsidy from the difference between the indemnity medical plan and the lowest cost medical plan to the HMO medical plan with the most comparable benefit design, clarifying the intent of the language.
The Agreement, if approved, will become effective May 30, 2026.
