RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 4 to Agreement No. 16-985 with Immucor, Inc. for Echo blood bank testing equipment, to assign the Agreement from Immucor, Inc. to Werfen USA LLC, with no change to the not-to-exceed contract amount of $2,049,578 or the contract period of April 22, 2016 through October 21, 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the cost of $2,049,578 is funded by State Medi-Cal, Federal Medicare, private insurances, and other departmental revenue. Funding sources may change in the future pending any legislative activity related to the repeal and/or replacement of the Affordable Care Act. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) 2023-24 budget and is included in 2024-25 budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Approval of Amendment No. 4 will assign Agreement No. 16-985 (Agreement) from Immucor, Inc. (Immucor) to Werfen USA LLC (Werfen). This assignment is due to Werfen's acquisition of Immucor. The ARMC Laboratory Blood Bank requires reagent products and equipment for automated performance of patient Blood Type and Antibody Screen for determining blood product compatibility for transfusions and other patient testing. This Agreement allows for the continued use of Echo Blood Bank testing equipment, including reagent rental and service.
