RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution that:
1. Establishes a "No Stopping, Standing, or Parking" zone on the south side of Madeira Avenue from Agate Avenue easterly 275 feet in the Mentone area, pursuant to County Code Section 52.0132(a).
2. Directs the County Road Commissioner to perform such acts as are necessary to implement the terms of the Resolution.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The estimated cost of $1,000 to install the appropriate signs, as well as minor administrative costs to update the Department of Public Works (Department) records, will be financed by Gas Tax revenue. Sufficient appropriation and revenue are included in the Department's 2023-24 Road Operations budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Residents on Madeira Avenue in the Mentone area expressed safety concerns regarding vehicles parking on the south side of Madeira Avenue at the intersection of Agate Avenue. In response to resident requests and concerns from the public, the Department conducted a traffic engineering investigation. The investigation found that Madeira Avenue and Agate Avenue intersection easterly 275 feet has the road width of 30 feet and is considered a "narrow" road pursuant to San Bernardino County Code Section 52.0115. Therefore, it is not desired to have vehicles parking on both sides of the road.
