RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 2 to Employment Contract No. 18-242 with Ryan Zane, Public Health Physician - Specialty Services, revising language in the duties and responsibilities of contractor section to add new duties and requirements, and increasing the hourly rate for a revised annual cost of $351,819 ($249,517 Salary, $102,302 Benefits), with no change to the contract period of June 9, 2018, through June 8, 2024.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The updated annual cost of $351,819 will be fully funded by health center revenue consisting of Medi-Cal, Medicare, fee-for-service, and Public Health Services Act Section 330 grant funding. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the 2023-24 Department of Public Health (DPH) budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
DPH contracts with physicians to provide direct medical care to patients and serve as subject matter experts in their areas of expertise, such as primary care and reproductive health services. Physician support services include supervision and clinical oversight of mid-level practitioners (nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants), assisting in the development of policies and procedures, helping to establish productivity standards, and assisting DPH with the development of long-term strategic plans.
