RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Renew Class "A" Permits for the provision of collection, transportation and disposal of refuse in portions of the unincorporated County for the period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, for the following vendors:
1. Burrtec Waste Industries
2. Burrtec Waste and Recycling Services, LLC
3. Republic Services

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost) as the Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) is financed by fee revenue. SWMD establishes fees that are charged to the public and other agencies for utilization of the County's Waste Disposal System. Fees associated with the renewal of these permits will generate revenue in the amount of $668, which is included in the SWMD's recommended 2022-2023 budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The SWMD provides for refuse collection services within the unincorporated areas of the County through private refuse haulers under the authority of a Franchise Agreement or Class "A" operating permit granted by the County pursuant to Section 33.0840 et seq. of the San Bernardino County Code. Renewal of the Class "A" Permits for the period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 will allow for these services to continue.
