FINANCIAL IMPACT

Approval of this employment Contract (Contract) will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The total annual compensation package for the Contract is estimated to be $48,810. This is based on a cash stipend ($15,600), use of the residence (valued at $28,210) and utilities (valued at $5,000). Sufficient appropriation and revenue for this Contract will be included in the County Museum’s (Museum) 2026-27 adopted budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Museum is tasked with developing visitors’ appreciation of San Bernardino County’s diverse regional identity and administers five museum branch sites throughout the County to achieve its mission. The Agua Mansa Pioneer Cemetery is currently operated as a historic branch site of the Museum.

Approval of this Contract will authorize the employment of a resident Historic Site Manager, Daniel Evans, for the Agua Mansa Pioneer Cemetery for the period of August 6, 2026, through August 5, 2027. On June 10, 2025 (Item No. 65), the Board of Supervisors approved the Employment Contract No. 25-350 with Mr. Evans to provide Historic Site Manager services from August 6, 2025, through August 5, 2026 at the Agua Mansa Cemetery in Colton, in the amount of $47,770 (Salary - $14,560, Benefits - $33,210).

The Historic Site Manager resides on-site and performs a variety of tasks, including facilitating public access, tours, maintenance and repairs, preserving the historic and aesthetic integrity of the site, and security. Compensation under the contract is based on a cash stipend and valuation for use of residence and utilities.

The Museum is recommending a new employment agreement with Mr. Evans based on his experience and service to the Museum. Either party may terminate the agreement by giving the other party 15 days’ written notice.
