RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 3 to Contract No. 20-156 with Valley Star Behavioral Health, Inc., for the provision of Crisis Walk-In Center services, increasing the contract amount by $3,867,771, from $25,899,710 to $29,767,481, and extending the contract by six months, for a total period of April 1, 2020, through September 30, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The recommended increase of $3,867,771 is funded by Mental Health Services Act and Federal Financial Participation Medi-Cal. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Department of Behavioral Health's (DBH) 2024-25 budget and will be included in the 2025-26 recommended budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
DBH is responsible for providing mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services to county residents experiencing severe mental illness and/or SUD. As the Mental Health Plan for the County, DBH is required to provide a range of behavioral health services, such as crisis stabilization and mobile crisis stabilization, to county residents.

The Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC) program provides around-the-clock urgent mental health services to individuals of all ages experiencing a mental health crisis. The program targets unserved, underserved, and inappropriately served populations to reduce unnecessary psychiatric hospitalization...
