RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1 to Revenue Contract No. 25-540 with the California Department of Education to provide California State Preschool Program services, increasing the contract amount by $322,329, from $7,918,041 to $8,240,370, with no change to the contract term of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The recommended amendment is 100% funded by the California Department of Education (State) and does not require a local match. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Preschool Services Department (PSD) 2025-26 budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The California State Preschool Program (CSPP) includes both part-time and full-day instruction to provide a core class curriculum that is developmentally and culturally appropriate for the children served. Since 1999, PSD has provided these programs through a combination of direct and contracted services for children ages zero to five years and their families. The State provides annual funding to PSD for CSPP through the recommended revenue contract.

CSPP provides education, health, cognitive, social/emotional, physical growth and development, and parent involvement services for children ages three to five years countywide, as well as referrals to health and social services for families and staff development opportunities to employees.
