Recommendation
Approve Program Supplement Agreement No. R92 to State Funding Master Agreement No. 00009S with the State of California Department of Transportation, which allocates $1,118,000 of Senate Bill 1 Active Transportation Program Augmentation funds as reimbursement for road widening and construction of Class II bike lanes on Sunburst Avenue in the Joshua Tree area.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The Department of Public Works (Department) is funded by Gas Tax revenue, fee revenue, and other state and local funding. The total cost to widen Sunburst Avenue and construct Class II bike lanes in the Joshua Tree area (Project) is $1,118,000. The cost of the Project will be fully reimbursed through Senate Bill 1 Active Transportation Program (ATP) grant funds through the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), which does not require a local match. Sufficient appropriation and revenue for the Project will be included in the Department's Road Operations 2021-22 recommended budget (6650002000).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The proposed Project will widen the roadway and install Class II bike lanes, beginning at the terminus of the existing Class I bike lane on Sunburst Avenue and extending 1.5 miles north to the new Joshua Tree Elementary school in the Joshua Tree Area.
