Recommendation
Approve and authorize the submission of a grant application to the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division, in the amount of $2,270,634, for continued participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, for the period of October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The application in the amount of $2,270,634 for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is funded by the California Department of Education, Nutrition Services Division (State) and does not require a match.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The State requires PSD to submit an annual renewal grant application for continued Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) participation. The terms included in the grant application are legally binding, and therefore require approval by the Board of Supervisors (Board). The CACFP grant application is due to the State by August 30, 2019 and will be submitted electronically upon approval by the Board.

PSD has received CACFP funding since 1965 and will use this funding to provide 984,773 meals and snacks to an estimated 3,500 Head Start, Early Head Start, and State Preschool eligible children countywide at an approximate cost of $2.31 per meal.
