RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1, effective October 9, 2019, to Contract No. 18-96 with Life Skills Awareness, decreasing the total contract amount by $60,000, from $578,907 to $518,907, to provide recidivism reduction services with no change to the total contract period of February 14, 2018 through August 15, 2020.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). These recidivism services, including the total of $518,907 for this contract, are 100% funded by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for the Proposition 47 Grant Program and does not require a match. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Department of Public Health's (DPH) 2019-20 budget and will be included in the 2020-21 recommended budget.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The purpose of the Proposition 47 Grant Program is to support individuals with a history of incarceration to reconnect with their family members, contribute to their communities, and decrease the possibility of reoffending. This enables DPH to support these individuals through the provision of mental health services, substance abuse disorder treatment, and other support programs. The funding also provides other community-based supportive services, including job skills training, peer advocacy, and transportation services.
