RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Terminate previous Employment Contract No. 10-1066 and approve new employment contract with Mark Taylor to update contract language to match current employment contract language, and to continue to provide support services to the Second District Supervisor as a Deputy Chief of Staff, increasing the responsibilities and the salary range, effective October 12, 2019, for an estimated annual cost of $244,294 (Salary - $147,950, Benefits - $96,344).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this employment contract will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the Second District's 2019-20 budget to fund the costs related to this employment contract.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter.

On December 7, 2010, the Board engaged Mark Taylor to provide support services to the Second District Supervisor as Deputy Chief of Staff. Approval of this item will update contract language so that it matches current employment contract language, and adjust Mr. Taylor's salary range to reflect additional responsibilities. Either party may terminate the contract at any time without cause with a 14-day prior written notice to the other party. The contract may be terminated for just cause immediately by the County.
