RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Accept the grant award from the California Board of State and Community Corrections (State Standard Agreement #BSCC0053-18-MH), in an amount not to exceed $184,140 for the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator to receive critical mental health related training for corrections eligible staff from May 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this item will not result in the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The grant award from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) provides funding in the amount of $184,410 to offset the Sheriff/Coroner/Public Administrator's (Department) cost of providing critical mental health related training to Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) eligible staff and provides for the reimbursement of travel related expenses for one staff person to attend a tuition free master instructor training for the new STC Behavioral Health Module. No matching funds are required. This revenue was not included in the Department's 2019-20 budget, therefore, related increases in appropriation and revenue will be included in a future quarterly countywide budget report presented to the Board of Supervisors for approval, if necessary.
