RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Terminate previous Employment Contract No. 18-172 and approve new Employment Contract with Veronica Hill to continue to provide support services to the First District Supervisor as a Communications Advisor I, effective November 9, 2019, for an estimated annual cost of $89,987 (Salary - $58,531, Benefits - $31,456).

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this employment contract will not require the use of additional Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). Sufficient appropriation exists within the First District's 2019-20 budget to fund the costs related to this employment contract and will be included in future recommended budgets.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Staff services to members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are provided through contractual arrangement, as required by the County Charter.

On April 17, 2018 (Item No. 3), the Board approved Employment Contract No. 18-172 and engaged Veronica Hill to provide support services to the First District Supervisor as a Communications Advisor I. Approval of this item will terminate Employment Contract No. 18-172 and approve a new employment contract to increase the hours worked, salary and benefits for Ms. Hill. Either party may terminate the contract at any time without cause with a 14-day prior written notice to the other party. The contract may be terminated for just cause immediately by the County.
