RECOMMENDATION(S)
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1, effective December 18, 2019, to Contract No. 18-395 with First Student, Inc. to provide Transportation Services for children enrolled in the Head Start and State Preschool Programs, updating the transportation service areas, and decreasing the total contract amount by $435,989, from $1,221,045 to $785,056, with no change to the total contract period of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
This item does not impact Discretionary General Funding (Net County Cost). The decrease amount of $435,989 for transportation services is approximately 81% ($353,151) federally funded through the Administration for Children and Families and approximately 19% ($82,838) state funded through the California Department of Education. Adequate appropriation and revenue have been included in the Preschool Services Department's (PSD) 2019-20 budget and will be included in future recommended budgets.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
PSD provides transportation services to and from Head Start locations for eligible children through the use of contracted bus companies. It was recently determined that the use of this service for the Ontario-Maple and Chino Head Start sites were lower than anticipated.
